18 Holes and Counting!

Our Love Affair with Golf!

The Glades Resort Golf Course Review

This winter RV season we decided to spend some time in Florida. Although we are home based in Pensacola, we have never spent time traveling and golfing in the state.

So we took out the map and charted a course to the Florida Keys. Since we are retired, we decided we would not be in any kind of rush and would take our time traveling south.

Our good friends – Jan and Mike!

Our first stop was Orlando, to visit our friends Jan and Mike.

From there we headed to central Florida, where we have been for about four weeks now and we are really enjoying playing the local golf courses near our RV park.

One local course is the Glades Resort Golf Course located in Moore Haven, Florida.

This 9-hole course is located inside the Glades Resort RV Living. The course has 4 sets of tees:

  • Blue tee yardage is 3167
  • White tee yardage is 2946
  • Gold tee yardage is 2613
  • Red tee yardage is 2261

We have traditionally been 18-hole golfers – I mean come on….we have named our blog 18 Holes and Counting – but with Marc’s recent foot surgery, playing 9-holes has been less stressful on his foot during the healing process.

Marc post-foot surgery!

The Glades Resort Golf Course is a fun little course to play and provides the right amount of challenges for both of us.

Surprisingly, by the second hole I found myself actually more relaxed than what I usually am when playing. I started to embrace that playing nine holes is less stressful. Perhaps it’s because I am not thinking so much about my total score, like can I break 100 or possibly 90 today? (Come on, a girl can dream can’t she?!?!)

I started to experiment a little, trying that lob shot that I have been afraid to attempt in a more serious 18-hole round. Even though the course was busy, it didn’t feel overcrowded and I was able to hit multiple balls from the same spot without feeling as though I was slowing down the groups behind us.

Check in was smooth and quick. The staff was friendly and proudly gave us a run down of the course.

Pre-check in
Of course there was a Palm Tree in the middle of the fairway – it’s Florida!

The overall condition of the course was great. Even the holes were cleanly cut!

The Glades Resort Golf Course is conducive to walking. Often when I play golf, I try and exercise my option to walk a course (this is not always possible as some golf courses mandate that you use a golf cart), but this track’s layout made walking an easy option.

We have been able to golf twice at Glades Resort Golf Course while in the area, and both times we have really enjoyed the 9-hole option.

My Golfing Partner!

Based on our score card rating……. We give Glade Resort Golf Course a Birdie.

Don’t get me wrong, 18 holes is still my preferred option. Heck, if time permits, I’d rather play as many holes as I possibly can.

But what I’ve discovered – is that nine can be just fine!
