Timberlinks Golf Course Review

Kathy and I have been occupied for the past few weeks and not able to get in a round of golf. Of course I have been looking for any opportunity to go play. The other day it happened.

The sun was out, we had a few hours of free time and there was a 9-hole course just a few miles from where we are staying. So, I posed the question to Kathy, “You want to go play some golf?” Lucky me, she is a golfer too, and yes quickly came as her response. She never worries about knowing where we are going to play. She knows, if I am asking about playing golf, I have a course and time already lined up to go.

And off we went to –

Timberlinks Golf Club.

The clubhouse & Pro Shop

Timberlinks Golf Club is a short 9-hole course in Denton, Texas. It is a semi private club with a lot to offer. They have a small, but fully stocked pro-shop. There is also a hot tub, sauna, steam room and lot of other club house goodies and events that make a membership more than worth the price.

But, I am here to talk about the golf!

Everyone at Timberlinks Golf Club is awesome and excited to be there. Making sure that the players have a good time on the course. There is a small area to chip and putt that they have provided even with the limited space available.

Timberlinks has a driving net to warm up and practice on – however that is not my favorite way to hit some balls.…but, it works. I like to see the ball flight. It helps me know if I am having a fade day or a draw day. I never try and fix it before a round. I just go with the flow. It is going to change as I play anyway.

The putting area

The golf course is a challenging 6086 yards from the tips. With narrow fairways, sharp doglegs, water, trees and sand. You have to pay attention to your golf game with every swing of the club. Every part of the course was in really good shape except for the 9th hole. It is a valley style hole that slopes from the green back to the fairway. This area in Texas has had torrential rains for the last few weeks and the entire fairway was washed out.

However, there is no doubt in my mind that the groundskeeper will have it all repaired by spring.

Macy – the cart attendant

As I said Timberlinks has everything. There was a cart girl working the course with food and drinks. Macy made her way around the nine hole course several times while we were playing. She told me that it was a normal feature on the course. It wasn’t something I was expecting on a 9-hole course and especially on a Wednesday.

A pleasant surprise for sure.

Golf Carts have GPS
Complimentary tees in each cart

There is nothing I can single out as an issue about Timberlinks Golf Club. Kathy and I had a great day playing a nicely laid out course. To mix things up I played the forward tees the second time around, only using my irons. Timberlinks Golf Club still offered a challenge and made me think about shot placement. Making this a great course for all skill levels.

Big hitters may be disappointed a little…..

But, you can’t and shouldn’t always grip it and rip it.

Based on our scorecard, Timberlinks Golf Club is a strong Par. It is a course I will be back to play for sure. I liked everything this course had to offer. I would give it a birdie if it were an 18 hole course for sure.

If you are in the Denton area, take the time to get in a round at Timberlinks Golf Club. Or maybe just 9-holes if you are pressed for time.
