Park Ridge Golf Club Review

Date of Play – September 15, 2018

Park Ridge golf club was a course that I had high hopes of being a great course.  But, to my dismay it was not.  Of course it could be my fault just a little.  Let me explain why.

I am in south Florida looking forward to playing golf with my life long friend, Ant.  Ant is a very important reason that I even considered playing golf in the beginning, so I always look forward to playing golf with him.  When we were looking for courses in the area to play, Ant got excited about this one.  So of course we decided to play Park Ridge.

Things started out good.  We got the tee time we wanted and when we wanted it.  Check in was smooth and the guys at the counter were cheery and helpful.  The starter even started us off a little early because we were ready.  We were paired with two nice men that added to the day.

Then it happened.  We stepped on the course.  Before I start, I need you to know that we were told the greens were air-rated last week.

As we stepped on the tee box we all noticed that the teeing area grass was very tall and mushy, which made it a bit difficult to tee up the ball.  As we were walking to our first ball, we all said that the fairways looked rough.  As we continued to play we started to notice that the grass was cut the week before and not picked up.  The cut grass was left in piles that had been rained on and dried several times. Some of the fairways had cart tracks and skid marks on them.  All the plugs from the greens were tossed in the rough or along the edge of the last cut.  The greens themselves were a mess.  There where clumps of sand everywhere.  Areas of the green had holes that didn’t have enough sand in them.  When you putted, your ball just bounced around.  This turned out to be the trend on every hole.  In defense of Park Ridge, they gave us a 50% discount for the day.  Making our cost of golf under $20.00.  Ant made a comment during our play about paying too much.  I don’t know about that, but it was close.

In spite of the course issues and frustration with always having a bad lie, I had a good round of golf.  Got an Eagle and a tap in Birdie. The cart girl came around often enough to keep us hydrated on a hot day.  The course had a nice outdoor feel while being in the city.

The course had a good layout and most likely it once was the great course that Ant had experienced it to be.  But today it just didn’t have that shine it could have.  That is why I am rating this course a Bogey.  No need to put it on your must play list unless you have time to play an extra course.

Fairways and Greens, we are 18 Holes and Counting.
