Cypress Lakes Golf Club Review

Today Kathy and I played Cypress Lakes Golf Club. We didn’t set out to play there but the golfing gods had a treat in mind for us.

We tried to get in as walk-ons at another course….but they had just started a tournament before we got there which made playing there not an option. I started chatting with the clubhouse employees and they suggested Cypress Lakes Golf Club. They said it wasn’t far away and they said it was a good course.

I got excited right away – a surprise new course

Kathy and I took a chance. Kathy called to see if we could get on as I was driving to the course. She got us a tee time that lined up perfect with our arrival.

Getting to Cypress Lakes Golf Club was a breeze. When we arrived everyone was very helpful. Pat and Kandy made sure we got everything we needed inside the clubhouse.

The Starters, Jerry and Jim gave us a course brief. They told us everything to look out for and even put us out earlier than our scheduled tee time. You could feel the pride of everyone working there had for the course.

I have to say for $30 per person, cart and round, it is a nice course.

I played from the number 1 tees and Kathy played from the number 5. They have 6 sets of tees to choose from. Kathy said the tees she chose made her feel very competitive and all her drives were right around the same yardage as mine. I thought the number 1 tees were perfect for me.

We both had to navigate what the course had to offer. There was plenty of water, but it seemed there was enough course to avoid it – which made the holes fun to play.

The greens were all elevated. Most were turtle backs and a few just fell toward the hole and rose back up to the green. Those are my favorite holes to tee off from. But the second shot is always a challenge.

The sand was in great shape and crystal white. Fluffy to hit out of. Some of them were a little shallow, but I think that is just the rotation of the grounds keeper. I am sure the next time I play the course the bunkers will have been topped off with a little more sand.

The groundskeepers do a good job of taking care of Cypress Lakes Golf Club. From tee to green everything was very playable. It is obvious that the groundskeepers take pride in what they do for the course.

It was a perfect day for golf – 75 degrees, a slight breeze and just a few clouds in the sky. I hit my driver great off the first tee. Good thing I did – because the Marshalls were both there and quizzed me about playing from the tips.

I made an adjustment to my driver after the second hole. Turned out to be a great idea. I hit the driver well the rest of the day. Kathy was playing solid as well.

We navigated the course, enjoying the day as it unfolded. At the end of the round we both commented about how much we enjoyed it.

I look forward to playing Cypress Lakes Golf Club again.
