Continental Golf Club Review

Kathy and I got to Flagstaff and started looking for a course to play. We quickly found out that there is only one public course here – Continental Golf Club. I have to say there was nothing about this course we disliked. It did not have a public course feel about it at all.

As soon as you drive up to the course you see the pride and quality put into this course.

The clubhouse looks beautiful. Walking into the clubhouse the quality continues. Everything was perfectly displayed and there was plenty of golf gear to shop for.

As we checked in Marcy was very helpful. She noticed that we may be able to get on the course a little early and checked us in quickly to get us out to the tee box.

Which is ALWAYS a bonus in my book!

Kathy provided us with a wealth of golf information for the Flagstaff Area!

Kathy, the early morning starter, gave us a great course brief and let us know where to go if we wanted to play another course outside of Flagstaff.

Out on the first tee we could see that a beautiful course was waiting for us. Starting right away we could see that the lush green course was going to be fun to play.

There was nothing we disliked about this course. There were only three tee different tee boxes, but the length and layout of the course even made the few tee boxes good for every skill level.

Continental Golf Club thought of everything you would want in a golf course and put it in. As I said, they started with lush green grass. Everywhere the grass was perfect. The tee boxes were neat and green. The fairways had sharp edges into the first cut. The greens were all cut the same and the speed was quick. The ball rolled smoothly to the hole – making putting a joy.

Continental Golf Club used the beautiful trees to make the house lined course look like it was carved out of the forrest. Usually I don’t like playing on courses that are placed within and around housing communities because I worry about the houses instead of the golf course.

But Continental Golf Club made it all blend together.

Continental Golf Club had a challenging layout to overcome the 6014 yard course. It was so fun to play. Some of the par fours begged me to try to drive them!

Others demanded that I use skill to navigate the complex layout.

The par fives tested both power and skill. Each hole had something different in order to keep me interested.

Farrah was all smiles each time we saw her throughout our round!

Mike, the course marshal, made his way around the course a few times to make sure everyone was keeping pace and even more importantly to see if we were doing ok or needed anything.

He was followed up by Farrah running the refreshment cart.

Nothing was missing at Continental Golf Club.

Some courses pull the best out of you because of the way they make you feel, the way they are laid out, and the quality of the course care.

Continental Golf Club did that for both Kathy and me.

We had a great round!

Playing well sometimes can influence how we feel about a course….but I can tell you, Continental Golf Club is a wonderful course to play.

The quality didn’t stop on the course. It followed us right into the restaurant. Every employee we passed said hello or welcomed us to Continental. The food was great – not only in flavour but in presentation.

Continental Golf Club may be a public course, but every inch of it felt like a private club.

There is only one thing left to say….Continental Golf Club is a birdie course. There are even a couple of things that were an eagle all the way.

If you are in the Flagstaff area and you want to play golf, don’t hesitate, don’t think about it, don’t waste one second….book your tee time at Continental Golf Club. I would absolutely play this course again.

I am even hoping to get in a second round before we leave the area.
