18 Holes and Counting!

Our Love Affair with Golf!

“Out with the old, in with the new”

That’s it. It’s a wrap. All done. See you next Spring.

Those are the good-bye and farewell wishes we have been hearing over the last few weeks as we travel from the colder regions of the U.S. to our home base in Pensacola.

Our last day of the 2022 golf season actually happened in early November. Marc had to have some foot surgery that would put him flat on his back for 8 solid weeks! (How we BOTH handled that is a completely separate article!)

Marc’s “after surgery” position!

So here we are in December…. busy shopping for gifts, sending out greeting cards and decorating our home.

I honestly love this time of year. As I have said in previous posts – it’s the time of year when I look back on all that we were able to enjoy and reflect on the blessings we received throughout the year.

And 2022 was full of so much for us!

Ready to play!
Ready to play!

For starters…..We made some headway on our bucket list of “Golfing in all 50 States!”

Golf in Alaska – check!

We were even able to check Alaska off our list when we drove our RV “North To Alaska” via the ALCAN Highway in May.

Talk about an awesome road trip!  Our pictures do not do the beauty any justice.

RAGBRAI

In July, we once again participated in RAGBRAI  (Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa).  RAGBRAI is 450 miles of open road on our bicycles. Think of Woodstock on bicycles, and you pretty much have an idea of what RAGBRAI is all about.

Sadly we had to say good-bye to Brutus when he passed in early August.   Brutus was Marc’s Diabetic Alert Dog and was with us for 15 years.

Brutus

That little guy was a big part of our family and we miss him every day.

Balloon Fiesta
Route 66

In October we made a stop in Albuquerque for the Balloon Fiesta, played a round or two of golf, and rode our motorcycles on parts of Historic Route 66.

We are already busy planning our golfing and RV adventures for 2023 – the open road, the freedom of driving, and the chance to explore this great nation’s scenic byways are all reasons why we are on this great adventure to begin with!

And……we will continue to be striking the ball from north to south, and from east to west!

As we say goodbye to the 2022 golf season, we would like to wish each of you

Merry Christmas and Happy Near Year!
