Hillcrest Golf Club Durango Review

Kathy and I were attending the LUXE Owners RV rally in Durango, Colorado, so of course we had to check the area to see what golf courses we could play, and we found a few of them.

I started my investigations and found that golf in the Durango area can be expensive!

A couple of courses wanted $125.00 to play and tee times were hard to get. The golf season is short and the courses stay booked.

Then I found – Hillcrest Golf Club.

I was very happy to hear the fee, including a cart, was just under $50.00 and…someone had just canceled a 9 am tee time! Although I was a little worried the big difference in prices would equate to a big difference in course quality – I booked immediately!

From the first step on the course I knew this was going to be a special day. Hillcrest Golf Club is one of the best courses I have ever played for $50.00. Hillcrest Golf Club has it all – great views, great hole layout, great staff and it was a great day.

Wow!

We started off on an elevated green that gently bent left with trees lining both sides of the fairway, making a hole that was as beautiful as it was challenging. Every hole after that offered something special. Mountain views, beautiful trees and picturesque lakes. It just kept getting better and better. The ninth hole was spectacular. It climbed to a green that had a view of most of the course and the mountains as a backdrop. Amazing.

All of the holes were inviting. We had to keep our head in the game in order to play the hole. The beauty was used to lull you into thinking the layout was easy.

Hillcrest Golf Club also made sure the course condition was as perfect as the view nature offered. There were tee boxes for every skill level and they were all in great condition. They were like the welcome mat to a luxurious green landing zone, and the greens were all perfect. The ball rolled true and fast.

I do wish we walked instead of getting a cart. As we played Hillcrest Golf Club I realized that it is also a good walking course. I was a sad when this round came to an end.

There is no doubt in my mind you would enjoy playing Hillcrest Golf Club. If you are in Durango, Colorado you shouldn’t miss the opportunity to play Hillcrest Golf Club. Be sure to make a tee time well in advance. I got lucky with a cancellation. The course was full and the other courses I checked on while looking for a tee time had few options available for at least a week as well. Believe me, you don’t want to miss this golf course.

9 – High Handicap Friendly	3	3	There are five different tee boxes for the all skill levels. Enough bathrooms on the course.
